I have just realised I didn't even mention the sex or swearing. Those were the big controversial things at the time, and neither leapt out at me as remotely important. Huh.

And how did I not know that the two potential companions were developed in parallel??!!!
It was three! Consideration was given to having, of all people, William Blake from Neil Penswick’s The Pit as a companion.
Which would’ve been hilarious because he’s a) nothing like the historical Blake, and b) really craply written in a really crap book.
