The error that caused the Earth-Draconia war is pretty much the same as the one that later caused the Earth-Minbari war in Babylon 5. Does this mistake have a classical origin?
The classical origin is Camlan, from the Morte d’Arthur. Two armies meet to discuss peace, one soldier sees a serpent about to strike and draws a sword to kill it. The other side see him drawing his sword but not why and take it as a betrayal of the peace. Carnage ensues.
